Wofford Basketball: Rush & Brown lock in early 2027 class, remaining targets on the board

Kevin Giltner’s staff has two commits in the 2027 class after a hot stretch over the last couple weeks in September: 3⭐️ Combo Guard Nylan Rush and 3⭐️ Forward Tyler Brown.

3⭐️ Combo Guard Nylan Rush committed on Sept. 6. The 6’3” guard out of Leesville Road High School in Raleigh, North Carolina is rated as the #8 player in the state of North Carolina per On3 and Top 300 nationally. He averaged 23.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 3.3 steals and 1.4 blocks in his junior season for the Pride. Recruiting voices such as Jamie Shaw have tagged him as a North Carolina Player of the Year candidate heading into his senior year.

Rush brings balanced scoring. He creates off the bounce, finishes at the rim, can pull up from deep, and makes plays for teammates. He chose the Terriers over offers from East Carolina, Appalachian State, Toledo, College of Charleston, ETSU, Northern Kentucky, Iona and Cleveland State, among others. Rush was the first commit in Giltner’s 2027 class.

Forward Tyler Brown followed twelve days later on Sept. 18. The 6’9” power forward out of Ambassador Christian School (North Carolina) plays on the Under Armour circuit for Top Shot. This summer he was dubbed the UAA Finals Defensive MVP, as well as a 1st-team All-UAA Defensive team selection. Brown is ranked as the #10 player in NC & #160 player in the country by PrepHoops.com. He chose the Terriers over Mercer, UNCG, South Florida, Northern Illinois, Western Carolina, North Florida, Samford, Queens & others.

Brown is a mobile big who runs the floor, protects the rim, and does not need the ball in his hands. Last year for a stacked Ambassador Christian squad, Tyler averaged 9.9 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, 1.3 steals & 1.0 assists per game. Phenom’s evaluation cites length, motor, second chance energy and timing as a shot alterer in the paint.
