In the modern age, like most mid-majors, Wofford must be able to pull in elite talent each year to maintain its roster. With All-SoCon players and Wofford stars like Kahmare Holmes (DePaul), Cayden Vasko (UCF) & Nils Machowski (UConn) moving on to new schools, the Wofford staff had a lot of work to do, both in the portal and recruiting high school players, to field a SoCon contender this coming fall.

Wofford HC Kevin Giltner and staff responded putting together a masterful run on the recruiting trail, picking up a variety of impactful new players, while also maintaining a fantastic core group of players in Luke Flynn, Cannon Richards, Chace Watley & Brian Sumpter. In this article, we will walk you through each player that makes up the Wofford Men’s Basketball roster for the coming season, and give our thoughts on the potential of next year’s squad.

First, lets take a look at the key players returning for the upcoming season for the Terriers.

Key Returners:

Luke Flynn – 6’1″ Junior Guard – Walton (GA)

Luke Flynn enters this upcoming season projected as Wofford’s starting guard after steadily earning a larger role through his first two years in Spartanburg. The Marietta native has appeared in 55 career games with 19 starts, averaging 4.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while shooting 35% from three-point range, numbers that only tell part of the story given his defensive toughness and versatility. Flynn looked poised for a breakout sophomore campaign before injury interrupted his momentum, but he still averaged 5.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game and flashed his upside with a 16-point outing against Bellarmine. Expected to take over a full-time starting role, Flynn gives the Terriers an experienced, physical backcourt presence whose all-around game and winning intangibles make him a critical piece of Wofford’s future.

Cannon Richards – 6’7″ Junior Forward – Kell (GA)

Cannon Richards has shown flashes of being one of Wofford’s more intriguing young frontcourt pieces, combining athleticism, energy, and developing versatility at 6-foot-7. The Atlanta native has appeared in 16 career games for the Terriers, averaging 1.6 points and 1.9 rebounds while shooting 36% from the field, but his impact has often extended beyond the box score through rebounding effort and defensive activity. Richards’ freshman season included an impressive breakout performance against Kentucky Christian when he posted 11 points, nine rebounds, two steals, and four blocks, offering a glimpse of the upside that made him a highly decorated Georgia high school prospect. He showed big flashes in Game 1 for the Terriers last season at George Mason, scoring 6 points in just 12 minutes on the floor. After an injury cut short his sophomore season just two games in, Richards now enters this fall with a chance to carve out a much larger role in Wofford’s rotation, bringing size, toughness, and long-term potential to the Terriers’ frontcourt.

Brian Sumpter – 6’9″ Sophomore Forward – Keenan (SC)

Brian Sumpter wasted little time establishing himself as one of Wofford’s most promising young frontcourt players, stepping into a major role as a freshman and starting 21 games for the Terriers. The Columbia native averaged 6.6 points and 4.9 rebounds while shooting an efficient 60% from the field, showcasing his athleticism, rim protection, and physical upside around the basket. He delivered an immediate breakout moment with a 21-point, 11-rebound double-double against Milwaukee in just his second collegiate game, and his 39 blocks ranked fourth-most in a single season in program history. As he continues to add strength and offensive polish, Sumpter looks like the kind of high-ceiling forward who could become one of the SoCon’s better two-way frontcourt players over the next several seasons.

Chace Watley – 6’2″ Sophomore Guard – Totino-Grace (MN)

Chace Watley emerged as one of Wofford’s most impactful freshmen this past season, giving the Terriers a fearless scoring guard capable of creating offense both on and off the ball. The Minneapolis native played in all 32 games with 15 starts, averaging 9.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists while knocking down 30 three-pointers and showing flashes of becoming a dynamic perimeter scorer. He is the SoCon’s 2nd leading returning scorer going into next season. Watley’s confidence and aggressiveness stood out throughout the season, including an 19-point performance against ETSU in a battle for first-place and several other key scoring stretches during SoCon play. With another offseason of development and a larger role likely ahead, Watley appears poised to become one of the foundational pieces of Wofford’s next generation of backcourt talent.

HS Commits:

Now, let us take a look at the incoming players to what is shaped up to be an extremely talented Wofford roster. As HC Kevin Giltner’s first class as a collegiate HC, the Terriers’ head man put together an incredible group with a ton of potential. The 2026 Wofford HS Class includes:

Cutter Sisk – 6’9″ Forward – Beech (TN)

Cutter Sisk looks like an extremely intriguing long-term frontcourt addition for Wofford, bringing size, toughness, and proven production after averaging 22.4 points and 12 rebounds per game at Beech High School in Tennessee. The 6-foot-9 forward was a district and region MVP during his junior season, and his combination of physicality, rebounding, and versatility gives him the profile of a player who could become a major piece of the Terriers’ future frontcourt rotation. He has gone viral countless times for his style of play that brings back memories of a young Larry Bird, and is affectionately known on social media as “Baby Jokic”.

Jyi Dawkins – 6’4″ Guard – Ben L Smith (NC)

Jyi Dawkins heads to Wofford as one of the most prolific high school scorers in North Carolina history, leaving Ben L. Smith High School as Guilford County’s all-time leading scorer after averaging 32.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 3.9 steals per game as a senior. The 6-foot-3 guard earned top-300 national prospect recognition in the 247Sports Composite and finished among the national leaders in scoring and double-doubles, giving the Terriers a physically gifted and ultra-competitive backcourt weapon whose scoring instincts and relentless mentality could make him an immediate impact player in the SoCon. He was originally committed to Western Carolina before flipping to the Terriers, and held widespread interest from several programs, including NC State, Virginia Tech, Seton Hall, Liberty and over 20 other schools.

Jhett Carter – 6’6″ Guard/Forward – Hargrave (VA)

Jhett Carter gives Wofford one of the more intriguing wing additions in the SoCon’s 2026 class, as the 6-foot-6 Hargrave Military Academy standout is a nationally ranked top-350 prospect by On3 who has seen his recruitment steadily rise over the past year. He is a physically imposing player, who is not afraid of contact and in fact almost seems to seek it. He is very aggressive getting to the cup, and should provide an instant boost for the Terriers this fall. Carter averaged 15.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.6 steals, and 1.9 blocks per game at Astronaut High School in Florida before exploding onto the prep-school scene at Hargrave, where his blend of athleticism, defensive versatility, and downhill scoring earned offers from programs including East Carolina, Eastern Kentucky, Hampton, Holy Cross, Northeastern, Albany, Vermont, Georgia State, amongst several others in addition to Wofford.

Jemon Price – 6’1″ Guard – Westfield (VA)

Jemon Price arrives at Wofford as one of the more accomplished guards in the 2026 recruiting class, earning Virginia 6A Player of the Year honors, first-team all-state recognition, and Washington D.C. All-MET first-team honors after averaging 18.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 3.3 steals per game as a senior at Westfield High School. Price is a nasty ball-handler and scores at a high clip. The 3-star guard finished his career with more than 1,200 points while leading Westfield to a Virginia 6A state championship, and ultimately chose the Terriers over offers and interest from programs including Stetson, UMBC, and several other mid-major schools.

Mihail Kalinov – 6’1″ Guard – Silistra (Bulgaria)

Mihail Kalinov gives Wofford an intriguing international addition at guard, as the 6-foot-1 Bulgarian playmaker has already logged professional experience in Bulgaria’s top league. Kalinov averaged 15.6 points and 5.5 assists per game for Botev 2012 this past season at only 18 years old. Mihail led Bulgaria to the UHe also helped lead Balkan Botevgrad’s U18 and U21 teams to Bulgarian national championships, bringing high-level international experience and proven production to the Terriers’ backcourt. Kalinov is a member of the Bulgarian National Team, and helped lead Bulgaria to a U16 FIBA European Championship in 2023. He has since participated in the 2025 U18 Eurobasket, amongst several other European competitions representing his home country of Bulgaria. He is a great ball handler, who has consistently played in leagues with much older and bigger players throughout his career. He should thrive in Spartanburg under the staff’s guidance.

Portal Commits:

Wofford hit a homerun in the transfer portal this cycle, pulling in numerous highly touted transfers, headlined by 4-star transfer center and 7-footer Evan Ramsey, as well as 6’6″ 3-star guard transfer Cameron Lowe. To round out our 2026-27 roster, lets take a deep dive into each of Wofford’s transfer commits.

Evan Ramsey – 7’0″ Center – UVA-Wise

Evan Ramsey arrives at Wofford as one of the most physically imposing additions in the SoCon this offseason, bringing proven production and true interior size at 7-foot and roughly 250 pounds after a breakout career at UVA Wise. Ramsey developed into one of Division II’s most effective post players, averaging 14.7 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game this past season while shooting over 63% from the field, earning All-SAC honors and drawing attention from multiple Division I programs before ultimately choosing the Terriers. He was ranked by On3/Rivals as one of the top transfer centers in the country. Known for his physicality, soft touch around the rim, and ability to control the paint defensively, Ramsey gives Wofford something it has lacked in recent years outside of Kyler Filewich; a true back-to-the-basket center capable of anchoring both ends of the floor and immediately competing for a major role in the rotation.

Cameron Lowe – 6’6″ Guard/Forward – Colorado State/Black Hills State

Cameron Lowe arrives at Wofford as one of the most accomplished Division II transfers in the country after a dominant two-year run at Black Hills State. The 3-star, 6-foot-6 guard was named RMAC Player of the Year and earned Division II All-American honors while leading the Yellow Jackets to back-to-back Division II Elite Eight appearances, averaging 17.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.0 blocks per game across those seasons. Lowe built his reputation as an elite perimeter shooter, knocking down 40.4% of his three-point attempts during his time at Black Hills State, while also bringing positional size and versatility that should translate well to the SoCon. Originally signed to Colorado State out of high school after flipping from Air Force, Lowe now heads to Spartanburg with two years of eligibility remaining after choosing the Terriers over programs including UC San Diego, Pepperdine, and Tulsa.

Chris Arias – 6’6″ Guard – Jacksonville University

Chris Arias gives Wofford another high-level perimeter scoring addition in the transfer portal to couple with Cam Lowe, arriving after two productive seasons at Jacksonville where he established himself as one of the ASun’s better young shooters. The 6-foot-6 guard was ranked as the nation’s No. 35 shooting guard by 247Sports out of high school and immediately lived up to the billing, earning ASun All-Freshman Team honors before later being named a preseason All-ASun selection. Arias has built a reputation as a lethal floor spacer and versatile scoring wing, shooting 38.6% from three-point range across his first two collegiate seasons while averaging 16.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per 40 minutes last year. He ultimately chose Wofford over interest from programs including La Salle, Long Beach State, Vermont, and Georgia State after originally holding high school offers from Florida Atlantic, South Florida, North Florida, Kennesaw State, and Jacksonville.

Jacob Daniels – 6’0″ Guard – Lander University

Jacob Daniels gives Wofford one of the more accomplished young guards in the portal, arriving after a breakout freshman season at Lander where he helped lead the Bearcats all the way to the 2025-26 Division II national championship game. The 3-star guard immediately emerged as one of the top freshmen in Division II basketball, averaging 13.6 points, 5.6 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game while scoring in double figures in 29 of 36 contests on a national runner-up team. Daniels’ strong all-around play earned him Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year honors and reinforced the reputation he built in high school, where he led Gibbs High School to the 2024 Florida 4A state championship and averaged 16.1 points per game across four varsity seasons. With his combination of speed, ball-handling, scoring ability and winning pedigree, Daniels gives the Terriers another talented long-term backcourt piece capable of developing into a major impact player at the SoCon level.

Outlook:

Kevin Giltner swung for the fences in his first recruiting cycle as the Terrier’s head coach, and did not miss. Wofford brings in a lot of talent, winning pedigree, and most importantly size that should allow the Terriers to once again be extremely competitive in the Southern Conference this fall.

Wofford’s roster heading into next season suddenly looks far more athletic, versatile, and physically imposing than what Terrier fans have become accustomed to over the past few years. The Terriers still retain a strong developmental core with Luke Flynn, Chace Watley, Brian Sumpter, and Cannon Richards, but the real story is how much proven production and size Kevin Giltner and staff added around them through recruiting and the portal.

In the backcourt and on the wing, Wofford now has significantly more scoring punch and shooting depth than last season. Watley looks poised for a breakout after a strong freshman campaign, while Flynn should provide leadership and stability in a larger role similar to his time prior to injury last season. Transfer additions Chris Arias and Cameron Lowe provide a massive boost to the offensive ceiling of the roster. Arias is a proven Division I shot-maker with ASun pedigree, while Lowe arrives as a Division II All-American and RMAC Player of the Year after averaging 17 points per game and shooting over 40% from three across two Elite Eight seasons at Black Hills State. Jacob Daniels adds another high-upside guard after helping lead Lander to the 2025-26 Division II national championship game as a freshman, and incoming freshmen Jyi Dawkins and Jemon Price both arrive with major high school production and winning pedigrees. International guard Mihail Kalinov also adds another skilled playmaker with professional and youth national team experience overseas, giving the roster even more depth and flexibility.

Up front, the Terriers may finally have the physical front court needed to consistently compete with the high-majors that Wofford developed a reputation for knocking off in previous years. Sumpter already showed flashes of becoming an all-conference caliber forward as a freshman, Richards still brings intriguing athletic upside, and the addition of Evan Ramsey gives Wofford a true 7-footer with proven interior production, rebounding, and rim protection.

The roster has legitimate size, length, athleticism, and proven winning experience throughout every position group. This year’s roster is also more veteran laden than last year’s squad that finished 19-13, good for 2nd place in the SoCon, which should allow them to better weather through a long season. Kevin Giltner will have all options at his disposal for what kind of offensive and defensive identity this team wants to have in the coming season. If the chemistry comes together quickly, the Terriers have the talent profile to be one of, if not the most dangerous team in the SoCon next season.

The Terriers will be eyeing a 7th NCAA Tournament bid since 2010, and a similar run to the 2018-19 season, where Wofford finished #19 in the AP Poll and made a Round of 32 run in the NCAA tournament. They will have to contend with a retooled Southern Conference, where many of their rivals also added top talent to their rosters and hold similar hopes for their upcoming campaigns.
