Wofford Men’s Basketball: Terriers handle Western Carolina


Wofford completes the season sweep against the Catamounts, beating Western Carolina 77-66 to move to 17-8 (9-3). The Terriers are now firmly in control of 2nd place in the SoCon, one game back from ETSU. Wofford had an incredible 46 points in the paint, playing with physicality and exerting their will on the overmatched Cats.

Nils Machowski led the way for the Terriers with a double-double, scoring 19 points with 11 rebounds, 2 blocks and an assist. Cayden Vasko has been on a heater, and cashed in another 18 points with 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and a block. Chace Watley followed closely behind with 16 points of his own, as well as 5 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist.

Brendan Rigsbee has quietly put up double figures scoring in 3 of the Terriers last 4 games, with another 10 points today, alongside a rebound, an assist and a block. Brian Sumpter made an impact in several ways with 8 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and a block.

Wofford moves to 39-33 all-time against Western Carolina, and has now won 5 straight in the series, as well as 25 of the last 35. Wofford 17-8 (9-3) will face the 13-12 (6-6) Samford Bulldogs on the road on Wednesday night at 7 PM on ESPN+.
